"Sane Quilt Turned Crazy"

Originally this was a Sampler Quilt made in 1976. My very first attempt at piece quilting. Over the years, as it left home with one of the children, it was greatly abused and was returned for me to "fix". There was no "fix" available, so I removed the quilting, took off the back and the batting and salvaged what squares I could. Then I divided it into two lap size quilt tops. The poor thing still looked abused, so I decided to give it some life by doing stitchwork over the seams and turning it into a crazy quilt of sorts. Thus the name "Sane Crazy Quilt". You don't realize how many seams there are in a pieced quilt until you try to do crazy quilt embellishments on them! I have a feeling these two tops will be a work in progress for some time to come. Well, when I got the two sections completed, I decided to join them together and make it one small couch quilt. Something to lay over my legs in the evenings while watching T.V. and stitching. The new border is 2" pieced strips of Mary Englebreit fabrics.
