NEXT DAY………..

While the twins play with some toys, Dorothy tries to talk with Judith.

Dot: Judith, do you have any other family? Someone your parents mentioned, but maybe you never met?

Judith: No ma’am. Daddy had a brother, but he died a long time ago…..before I was born. Mommy was the only child. We don’t have any grandparents. I think it’s just us.

Dot: Okay, I just needed to make sure. The authorities did check and couldn’t come up with any family.

Judith: What’s going to happen to us? Are we going to live with you? Where’s our stuff? What about our home?

Dot: To be honest, honey, I don’t know what’s going to happen…..at least speaking for long term. All three of you will stay here for now. It’s a little crowded, but we’re all willing to make do in order to keep you with your brothers.

I will ask the case worker about your home and personal items and we’ll see what we can do.

Dot:Right now, the main thing is for you and the twins to be together and have people around you who care about your well being. Phillip and I want you to feel safe here. You can talk to us about anything. Think of Punkie and Marjorie as older sisters or cousins. They want to help you too.

Judith: Thank you ma’am. The boys and I will always be together, won’t we?

Dot: I can’t promise that, but that is what our goal is. So don’t you worry about it for now.

Judith: Yes, ma’am.

Dot: Judi, I’m concerned about the twins. Since they came here, the only time they’ve talked is to ask to see you, while you were in the hospital, and they cry out during their sleep. I need for you to encourage them to talk. Get them to talk while they play with toys. Get them to tell you stories. If they want something to eat or drink, make them ask, don’t just get it for them.

Judith: Yes, ma’am. They were always talking. Mommy said once they learned their first word, they never shut up. Oh, I miss mommy and daddy………….
